AROUND 50 new jobs are set to be created after permission was granted for a new 60-bed care home in Colwall.
The home, on Primeswell Close, off Walwyn Road, will be on the western side of the Malvern Hills on the Worcestershire and Herefordshire border.
It will be created by the Rotherwood Group, funded through Target Healthcare and will be constructed by LNC Property Developments.
The building has been designed by Lawrence and Finley Architects and its architectual features will echo those at another of Rotherwood’s homes – Roden Hall in Shropshire.
Architect Kristian Lawrence, from Lawrence and Finley Architects, said: “From the outset, Rotherwood’s brief was to design a care home which would enhance the lives of residents living within, whilst also respecting the surrounding area and retaining the views of the Malvern Hills.
“The home will house top-class amenities including an at-home bar and cinema room and maximise views of the open countryside.
“We look forward to seeing the build progress”.
John Fennell, Rotherwood’s CEO, added he was thrilled the plans for this care home – the company’s ninth – had been given the go ahead.
