New living arrangement scheme set up to combat loneliness

TO combat elderly people feeling lonely and struggling with the cost of living, a new Malvern home-sharing scheme has been set up.

The scheme set up by Cloud Nine aims to match those who have an available room with people looking to share their homes.

Marie, 76, and Winnie, 71, had their lives ‘transformed’ by being matched together.

They both said it had been a real lifeline to them in such a difficult time when they both were experiencing loneliness.

Cloud Nine matches people together by assessing living arrangements so that the match is suited for each individual.

Jordan Davis, a founder of Cloud Nine said: “I can’t stress how important it is that people should be able to stay in their own homes and live independently if the right type of environment and support is available.

“Many older people would like to stay in a home environment for as long as possible and enjoy a normal life with some company and the knowledge that regular help and support is at hand. This simple and effective idea has proved to be a real lifeline.”
