MALVERN Buzzards running club saw off 2022 by taking part in several winter events.

On November 27, 20 members of the running club took part in the 12th Croome Capability Canter, which was organised and marshalled by Black Pear Joggers.

The muddy race attracted 300 runners and saw them tackle the 6.4-mile undulating off-road course around Croome Park, finishing uphill outside St. Mary Magdalene’s Church.

The buzzard’s Adam Wilson finished the run in second place with a time of 39 minutes and 5 seconds, followed by Richard Walsh at 41 minutes and 5 seconds.

Sam Burnage, Dave Woodward, Martin Thomas and Marc Soley all finished the race in under 50 minutes for the buzzards.

Then in December, four buzzards flew to Talybont-on-Usk to brave the 26.3-mile, 4,265 feet Brecon Beacons Trail Marathon.

The runners took on the route, which contained a canal towpath and forest rides as well as technical sections and the peaks of Cribyn and Pen y Fan.

Sarah Armstrong and Ally Fletcher finished joint fifth for the ladies in 5 hours 20 minutes, while Alun Rees came in eighth in 4 hours 36 minutes.

And Jack Abbotts finished on the podium, claiming third with a time of 3 hours 59 minutes.
