A WORCESTERSHIRE community fund have donated nearly £25,000 throughout 2022, supporting food banks, hospices and other honourable causes, writes Sonny Rackham.
The fund run by Malvern-based estate agency Nicol & Co started in March 2021, offering each client selling a property the chance to donate £100 to a charitable cause of their choice.
Since the community fund launched nearly £37,000 has been distributed to local causes including more than £10,000 given to St Richard’s Hospice and £2,500 to Acorns.
The Worcestershire Homeless Appeal Street Kitchen and Foodbanks in Droitwich, Malvern, Worcester and Pershore received more than £2,500 between them.
The Grace Kelly Childhood Cancer Trust received £1,000 and £500 was given to the Worcester Warriors Community Fund.
Primrose and Kemp hospices also received donations.
Matt Nicol, managing director of Nicol & Co, said: “Everyone at Nicol & Co appreciates being able to support so many wonderful charities, community organisations, volunteers and good causes across the county.
“The fact that food banks were among the other top nominations reflects our customers’ awareness that the cost of living crisis has hurt some sectors of the community more than others.”
Alongside the community fund, sponsorship deals totalling nearly £10,000 were put into local businesses including Droitwich Rugby Club, Droitwich Cricket Club, football clubs including Droitwich Spa , Malvern Town, Worcester City and Kidderminster Harriers ladies and a number of other sports teams.
