PEOPLE in Worcester and Malvern looking for work or secondary employment can go to jobs fairs being held next week.

The free events take place at Malvern Library, Graham Road, on Wednesday, March 22, and at The Hive in Worcester on Thursday, March 23.

Both Jobs Fairs run between 10am to 1pm and feature a range of employers with a variety of vacancies and opportunities in the area.

As well as information on the different roles, attendees can get information, ideas for careers, apprenticeships, training and self-employment opportunities.

Current statistics from the Department of Work and Pensions relating to JobSeekers’ Allowance (JSA) claimants and those searching for work on Universal Credit show there are 2,365 in Worcester with 415 aged between 18 and 24 and 580 aged 50 or over.

In Malvern the claimant count is 1,165 overall with 195 aged between 18 and 24 and 365 over 50.

Caroline Raybould, Employment Engagement Lead for Worcestershire said: “Across our jobcentres, work coaches provide every jobseeker with tailored support, helping to build confidence and develop new skills.

“The focus as we move into spring is to reach out to everyone looking to re-join the jobs market, no matter whether they’re single parents, young people, 50 Plus or have a health condition.

“With dedicated support we are enabling people to return to work and helping businesses to fill their vacancies.”

She added the number of vacancies across Worcestershire was coming down but was still high meaning there were plenty of vacancies to be filled.

Those wanting more hours in their current roles who can get them are encouraged to do so or, if they need more work, to consider taking a second job or move careers.

A Careers Insight Hub will be situated at the events with experts from different sectors available to answer questions, help with ideas, advice or a change of direction.

Jobseekers can also find their ideal role by searching for the DWP ‘Find-a-Job’ website, which has thousands of opportunities on offer.
