Mozart's renowned Requiem to be performed twice in Malvern in run up to Easter

Malvern Editorial 21st Mar, 2023   0

THE WELL-KNOWN music of Mozart’s Requiem will be performed on two occasions entitled ‘Passion of the Cross’ at two churches in Malvern.

The first concert will be at 10.30am on Sunday, March 26 at the Holy Trinity Church, Link Top and the service will be repeated in its entirety at 6.30pm on April 2 at St James’ Church, West Malvern.

The concert will be led by the Holy Trinity Augmented Choir with conductor Charles Pavey and organist Billy Colbourne.

Joining the 40-strong choir will be Rev Becky Elliott, vicar of both churches, and she will lead these services for Passiontide in word and music.

Readings at the services will retell the events of Good Friday and Easter and there will be significant congregational hymns too.

A Holy Trinity Augmented Choir spokesperson said: “The choir puts on a significant musical occasion in the run up to Easter every year and such is the level of preparation beforehand that the occasions are offered twice – some people do come to listen twice too.

“Mozart’s Requiem is shrouded in some mystery which appeals and it is music of beauty and drama.”

The occasions are free and there will be a retiring collection.

Call Charles Pavey on 01684 893590 for more information.
