SEVEN homes were evacuated in Powick yesterday (August 17) as a fire spread through a nearby corn field.
Three fire crews from Worcester and one from Malvern arrived to tackle the blaze on Old Malvern Road, Powick at 11.46pm on Thursday, August 17.
11 residents from seven homes were evacuated with help from West Mercia Police after three acres of the corn field was found well alight.
A water carrier from Evesham, off road vehicles from Wyre Forest and Malvern, a service drone and an incident command unit were all joined by ambulances at the scene but nobody was injured.
Evacuated residents were allowed to return to their homes after Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service (HWFRS) crews had nulled the blaze.
After HWFRS had extinguished the crop fire the drone was deployed to search for hot-spots and off road vehicles were used to dampen down embers.
A cause of the blaze has not yet been confirmed by the fire service.
The incident was dealt with shortly after 2am on August 18.
