POLICE have plans to install a CCTV camera at the entrance to Malvern Retail Park in a bid to spot culprits of recent noisy and careless anti-social driving in the area.
West Mercia Police have been liaising with Malvern Hills District Council to have the camera installed so offending motorists can be identified.
West Mercia’s Link and Dyson Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team (SNT) have already installed ASB signs warning people about the consequences of their driving manner.
The signs warn drivers of the police’s right to use Section 59 orders, which allow them to stop and seize vehicles they believe to be being driven in a careless, inconsiderate or anti-social manner.
Link and Dyson SNT carried out patrols in the area on September 9, speaking to a number of drivers and moving them away from the area.
No anti-social behaviour or driving was witnessed during the patrols.
Amanda Smith, head of community and parking services at Malvern Hills District Council, said: “A request has been made by the police and we are reviewing the options and feasibility together.”
