A COMMUNITY group who run projects for youngsters has been awarded a grant to provide circus skills activities for the young people they support.
Malvern Cube Projects received an Active Communities grant from National Grid Electricity Distribution to run the activities for 10 to 18-year-olds.
The £2,000 award will support the ‘Cube Youth Gains Circus Skills’ project, designed to engage young people including those facing disadvantages.
The community group is among more than 100 grassroots organisations across the Midlands, South West and South Wales to benefit from the £500,000 National Grid fund – which will support them in providing fun, healthy and active participation for youngsters in local sport, physical activity and performative skills.
Jo Hine, youth manager for Malvern Cube Projects, said, “Receiving the grant from National Grid’s Community Matters Fund is very much appreciated by us here at Cube Youth.
“As a charity, we work with young people aged 10-18, many of whom are disadvantaged.
“Our ‘Cube Youth Gains Circus Skills’ project will enable them to have fun and exercise in an activity that is inclusive and great for wellbeing.
“Thank you so much for your kind support, National Grid.”
Graham Halladay, operations director at National Grid, said: “The Active Communities Fund underscores our ongoing commitment to promote well-being and cultivate flourishing communities for people of all ages.
“We want to establish a legacy of active communities, fostering positive and sustainable change by uniting people through physical activities, improving the health of both individuals and communities – all while fostering a sense of enjoyment along the way.
“We are delighted to offer our support to committed community organisations like Malvern Cube Projects in their efforts to promote and sustain active communities.”
The Active Communities fund is the latest phase of National Grid’s Community Matters Fund which has awarded almost £5 million to good causes since 2021.
