A DONATION page to fund the funeral of a young man who sadly lost his life in Upton-Upon-Severn earlier this week has raised over £2,000.

Christopher McCabe’s body was recovered from the River Severn by police on Wednesday, October 11, after he went missing in the early of Saturday morning.

The 19-year-old is said to have lost their life to suicide due to ongoing mental health struggles.

The goal of the fund is to raise £3,000 to help with funeral costs, while any extra will be donated to charities such as Papyrus, Calm or Mind – who support young adults and children suffering with mental health problems.

The Justgiving page describes ‘Christie’ as a an ‘intelligent, always happy and loving young man who worked hand and did all he could for those he loved‘.

The page states Chris’ mother, two younger sisters, two brothers and the rest of his loving family want to give him the respectful sending off he deserves.

Abigail Williams, who started the fundraiser, said: “Thank you everybody for your support of the family at this difficult time.

“Every little bit helps send this amazing young man to a place of love and peace that he deserves.”

Christopher went missing on Saturday (October 7) after he was last seen entering the water near Upton Bridge in the early hours of the morning.

Police search officers, along with a police helicopter and fire service colleagues were immediately deployed.

A number of people from the Upton-upon-Severn community offered to help in the search and were thanked by West Mercia Police for their support.

Specially trained police officers have been supporting the man’s family since he went missing on Saturday.
