New Leigh Sinton Scouts group calling for budding young adventurers

A NEW scouts group for youngsters has been set up in Malvern to meet increasing demands for exploration and adventure.

The group, Pioneer Explorers, has launched in Leigh Sinton to give 14 to 17-year-olds access to fun, adventurous activities and developmental skills for life.

Since opening, the scouts group have been learning first aid, fire lighting and about mental health and well-being. The group are now calling for new youngsters to get involved.

The Pioneer Explorers have been out walking in Snowdonia, camping in the Black Mountains in Wales, zip-lining and taking the lead for activities for younger scouts.

Olivia, 15 said: “Explorers has helped me keep a routine, which I find really useful with GCSE exams soon. I’m surrounded by like minded people which makes me feel more confident knowing many others feel the same.”

Scouts offers over 200 activities from abseiling and coding to drama and water-zorbing. In a recent poll 94% of Scouts said they had developed useful skills.




Huw, 14, agreed with Olivia. He said: “Scouts is not just a group but it’s a family and community, a welcoming one at that. It’s one of the best things I have ever done.”

Pioneer Explorers meet at 1st Leigh Scout Hut, Sherridge Road, Leigh Sinton on Fridays during term time from 7pm to 9pm.


A spokesperson for Pioneer Explorers, which is run entirely by volunteers, said: “Our doors are open – we’d love to welcome more people to join us.”
