A MAN has been jailed for six years for arson which endangered life following a fire at Malvern Link Railway Station last year.
Matthew Wright, 27, of Clayfield Drive in Malvern, pled guilty to the offence at Worcester Crown Court where he was given the prison term and received a restraining order against the two victims of the fire.
It was on March 7, 2023, two victims were awoken by a fire outside the station house which caused significant damage to the property. Luckily, neither were injured following the fire.
After an investigation, it was established that the fire was started by Wright.
Det Con Gareth Hicks said: “This is a positive outcome to what could have been a tragic incident in Malvern.
“Thankfully the victims didn’t sustain any injuries, but the story could have been so much worse.
“We hope the six-year sentence sends a strong message to Mr Wright that his actions were irresponsible and not tolerable.”
