A CARE home in Malvern has hosted a Crufts-inspired dog show for residents to celebrate and support the work of the Blue Cross charity.
The sun was shining and doggy tails were wagging at Elgar Court when the home’s team welcomed their local community and their dogs to a fun Crufts-inspired dog show.
The furry friends competed in all kinds of fun categories judged by a committee of residents. Winners were awarded a Rosette, Blue Cross certificate and dog treats.
Awards were given for best pedigree, best tricks, best cross breed, waggiest tail, most obedient dog, and best character.
Julia Needham’s Cavalier King Charles was crowned best pedigree, Roger and Vera Greenaway’s dog, Honey, was awarded best tricks for balancing her treats on top of her paws, and Maria Griffith’s Noodle was crowned best cross breed.
Rounding out the awards, Kerrie Perks’ Freddie won waggiest tail, David Gough’s Mabel was deemed most obedient dog, and Julia Needham’s other pooch Mala was given the best character award.
Naomi Steward, home advisor from Elgar Court said: “Our residents have had the most brilliant time, they absolutely loved having all the dogs here – and the dogs were so well behaved.
“It was wonderful to see everyone enjoying themselves so much, it will definitely be an annual event. We always look forward to Crufts being on TV anyway but now we have another reason to count down the weeks until it’s here again.”
The Blue Cross shop in Barnards Green Malvern has recently been refurbished and all money raised goes towards helping sick, injured and homeless pets.
The Elgar Court team would also like to thank Clare and her team at the Just for Pets store on the Malvern Retail park, for her advice on what treats to buy for the lucky winners.
