ELLA-GRACE Dovey, from Malvern, made British dressage history after winning individual gold at the European Championships in Opglabbeek, Belgium.

The 13-year-old became the first-ever rider from Great Britain to win a medal in the children on horses category at the European Championships.

She secured gold with an incredible score of 79.707 per cent ahead of riders from The Netherlands in silver and Germany in bronze.

The Malvern teenager also took part in a preliminary competition where she placed 12th and a team competition in Belgium.

She was also Great Britain’s only individual competitor at the Championships as 53 riders from across Europe took part in the event.

Ella-Grace won gold on her horse Sheepcote Jackson, a horse she only rode for the first time three months ago, competing at her first-ever European Championships.

Prior to the Championships, Ella-Grace won every competition she entered on Sheepcote Jackson including four international competitions.

This includes victories at Hickstead and Wellington CDI’s and two national Addington Premier League competitions.

Herefordshire-based David and Serena Pincus gave Ella-Grace the opportunity to ride Sheepcote Jackson. She also trains with both Katie Bailey and David Pincus.

Ella-Grace is now looking forward to competing with Sheepcote Jackson at the National Championships next month where she is looking to secure a national title to add to her gold medal.
