A CARE home in Malvern has helped raise over £200 for a national cancer charity all thanks to a coffee morning and bake sale.

Staff and residents at Elgar Court sat down with the community for a Macmillan Coffee Morning on September 27 to bring in the funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The home believes .a coffee morning is the perfect chance to catch up over a cuppa and a slice of something delicious for a great cause’. The money raised helps everyone with cancer to live life as best they can.

Residents enjoyed spending time with friends and relatives and meeting members of the local community, including the Malvern Civic Society, Friends of Malvern Community Hospital and the Malvern policing team.

Staff and the community chipped to bake treats with members of the team, residents’ families and the local community all bringing in their favourite baked goods to help raise money.

Sarah Cadwallader general manager at Elgar Court, said: “Our Macmillan coffee morning has been a huge amount of fun and a success, everyone at the home is always keen to support this fantastic charity in any way we can.

“We are very glad to be able to do our bit again to raise further awareness for MacMillan and money for the charity.”

Jenny (pictured), a resident at the home, felt proud to raise funds for ‘such a fantastic charity’.

She added: “They do such amazing work in the community, we all love raising money for them and the best bit is, we get to each cake at the same time. I especially enjoyed being a coffee shop ‘Barista’ for the morning.”
