Local artist's Christmas cards to boost St Wultan's Church restoration fund

Malvern Editorial 15th Nov, 2024   0

AN ARTIST in Malvern has created a selection of festive Christmas cards which will be sold to generate funds for the restoration of a nearby parish church.

Welland based, multifaceted artist, Charlotte Carver has designed two cards to help spread Christmas cheer, with a large chunk of sale proceeds going to St Wulstan’s Church in Little Malvern.

The artist’s designs for this year are named Snowfall and Sunset at St Wulstan’s in Little Malvern and A Partridge in a Pear Tree Fantasy.

Charlotte’s research into The Twelve Days of Christmas song has helped inspire one her designs. She said: “I discovered there is a tradition that each line represents a different aspect of the Christian faith.

“For example, the ten lords a-leaping symbolise the ten commandments, the four calling birds are the four gospels and the Partridge is Jesus.

The Christmas cards are produced in the UK. They cost £6 for 10 cards, with a generous percentage going to support the restoration fund at St Wulstan’s.

Charlotte added: “The tradition of sending cards is such a good one.

“And, as second-class stamps haven’t gone up yet, why not keep in touch with friends by sending them a hand produced card with your love and best wishes for joy and peace this Christmas.”

St Wulstan’s is known internationally as the final resting place of local composer Edward Elgar and attracts visitors all year round.
