HIGH visibility police patrols have been taking place in Barnards Green in the run up to Christmas to show support for retailers.
West Mercia Police’s Pickersleigh and Chase Safer Neighbourhood Team formed the first Shop Watch scheme alongside retailers a couple of years ago to provide a positive working relationship with shop owners.
The aims are to deter thieves and work swiftly with any would be shoplifters in the area. The majority of shops in Barnards Green are signed up including the butcher, the baker and the keymaker.
A spokesperson for the SNT said: “We want to send a strong message to those who might be thinking of committing shop theft in the area, we work closely with shop keepers and share information via ‘SHOP WATCH’ with them to help keep Barnards Green a low crime area.”
PCSO Kev Tudge and PCSO Becky Bullock often lead the patrols to continue to engage with shop keepers.
