MALVERN Town slipped to a 3-1 defeat away at Didcot Town as Miles Ferguson’s second-half goal proved in vain.

The Hillsiders reduced the deficit on 79 minutes when Ferguson found the net only for the home side to seal the points in injury time at Loop Meadow Stadium.

That came after Malvern let a two-goal lead slip in a 2-2 draw against Cinderford Town at the HDAnywhere Community Stadium on Boxing Day.

A first-half brace from Sam Clark put the home side in command at the interval only for Isaac Richards and Alex Bonthron to draw the visitors level after the break.

The results mean Malvern sit 13th in the Southern League Division One South table.

Against Didcot, the hosts broke the deadlock on 25 minutes as Adam Learoyd fired home after Malvern failed to deal with a free-kick into the box.

And Didcot doubled their lead on the stroke of half time when Connor Barrett took the ball around Town goalkeeper Lewis Adams and finished into an empty net.

A sensational goal from Ferguson halved the deficit as the Malvern man sent a sensational effort into the top left corner from 25-yards out.

However, Didcot sealed the points deep into injury time when Brooklyn Leipus beat Adams when one-on-one following a counter attack.

Malvern are next in action against Bishops Cleeve on Wednesday, January 1 with kick-off at 3pm at Kayte Lane.
