92-YEAR-OLD Donald Robinson or Peter as he likes to be called has achieved his dream of walking a mile, writes Gabrielle Brown.
Peter who could barely walk when he arrived at Elgar Court Residential Home in Malvern two months ago shared his goal with staff to walk a mile.
Staff built him up with nutritious food and round the clock care to help make his dream a reality.
Peter said: “It’s felt great to finally do this and I have been practising walking round the home for a few weeks now.”
What may seem easy for some proved difficult for Peter having suffered with illness prior to his move to Elgar Court.
Peter’s daughter nurse Lynn Robinson said: “Just nine weeks from unable to walk as he was so weak and malnourished to walking a mile – Elgar Court have saved him and given men my dad back.”
The one mile round trip was made from the home to the Morgan pub where a cold pint was waiting for Peter.
Staff member Sarah Cadwallader said: “It was wonderful to see how happy Peter was – and the staff loved being part of this as well.”
