A NEW recognition scheme has been launched to help celebrate residents who go above and beyond within the local community.
The scheme, created by Malvern Hills District Council, aims to shine a light on individuals, teams or businesses in the district that make a difference to their community and the lives of those around them.
The council is asking residents to come forward and nominate their local heroes to help celebrate them and all that they do.
Those nominated will receive a letter of thanks and a special keepsake from councillor Daniel Walton, chairman of Malvern Hills District Council.
Nominees can also be entered into a prize draw to win a pair of tickets to a special community celebration event, taking place in June 2025.
Recognition awards will be given for categories including young person (aged 25 or under), lifetime achievement, a team and community business.
Councillor Daniel Walton, chairman of Malvern Hills District Council, believes this ‘wonderful’ scheme creates the opportunity to celebrate the many heroes that give up their time to make a ‘huge positive difference’ to the community.
Coun Jennie Watkins, portfolio holder for communities and housing added: “There are so many people who contribute to their community, and it is time to celebrate them.
“Please come forward and nominate them so they can get the recognition they deserve.”
Nominations are now open. The deadline for nominations is April 18, 2025.
