A MAN in his late 70s died on the Malvern Hills yesterday afternoon (Thursday).

The emergency services responded to reports of a man unconscious near British Camp.

The exact location was unclear at first so police officers climbed the hill from from two separate locations in an attempt to reach the man as quickly as possible.

Two Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service crews from Malvern Fire Station, plus the service’s Argocat, were called to the incident.

Once the man had been located, officers commenced CPR and ensured other emergency services knew their exact location.

West Midlands Ambulance Service sent two ambulances, a paramedic officer, the Trust’s Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford to the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “On arrival, crews found police providing good CPR.

“Ambulance staff took over to administer advanced life support but sadly, despite everyone’s best efforts, the man could not be saved and was confirmed dead at the scene.”
