MALVERN’S mayor has raised a whopping sum of nearly £8,000 for her chosen charities this civic year.

Mayor councillor Marilyn Birks has helped amass a total of £7,621.08 for charities Heartstart and Cube Youth in her mayoral year for 2024/25.

The amount raised was presented at a cheque giving ceremony in Priory Park on June 15 with representatives of both charities coming together to celebrate.

Attendees enjoyed live music on the bandstand during the interval of Music in the Parks before the mayor of Malvern presented both charities with their cheques.

The money raised has come from charity events hosted by Malvern Town Council hosting throughout the year including Mayor’s Peaks Challenge, Mayor’s Bonanza, a quiz night, charity talks and tours plus many more.

Funds will go to supporting Heartstart’s work to train members of the public in basis resuscitation techniques and their installation and maintenance of public access defibrillators throughout the town.

And aid Cube Youth’s provision of free group and activities sessions for youngsters across Malvern, hosted at The Cube.

Linda Blake, town clerk said “We are thrilled to have helped Marilyn, as mayor, raise this amazing amount for her charities during her Mayoral year.

“The money raised will go to help these charities provide vital services for the communities of Malvern.”
