Aldi shoppers in West Midlands raise whopping £12million for Teenage Cancer Trust

SUPERMARKET Aldi is thanking its shoppers in the West Midlands for helping it to raise £12million for the Teenage Cancer Trust, writes Tilly Kellaway.

The company started its partnership with the charity in 2027, initially pledging to raise £15million for the charity by 2017.

But it has now extended its commitments with a new target of £20million by 2031.

Funds raised through the partnership help the charity continue providing specialist care, vital support services and dedicated centres adapted to the needs of young people and teens undergoing cancer treatment across the country.

Kate Collins, chief executive of the Teenage Cancer Trust, said: “The funds raised have enabled our nurses and youth teams to improve the lives of thousands of young people with cancer and support families during their toughest times.”

Aldi staff in the region have completed a wide range of fundraising activities – from head shaves and cake sales to various endurance challenges, whilst donations have been further boosted by the generosity and kindness of Aldi shoppers across the area.

To mark the accomplished milestones, Aldi, the fourth largest supermarket in the UK, is also making an additional £12,000 donation to continue to support the charity’s work with teenage cancer patients and their families.

Liz Fox, national sustainability director at Aldi UK, said said the supermarket, was incredibly proud of its partnership with the charity, adding this latest milestone reflected the dedication of its staff and the generosity of its customers.

Throughout July, Aldi’s Cuthbert cake will additionally feature a text code on its packaging for the Teenage Cancer Trust, giving those customers who want to donate to the charity the chance to do so.
