Grants available to help improve tourism in Malvern

TOURISM businesses in the Malvern Hills District can now apply for grants to enhance visitor experiences, as part of a new scheme backed by government funding.

The Malvern Hills Tourism Grant Scheme, run by Malvern Hills District Council and funded through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, offers match-funded grants of up to £5,000.

The funding aims to support improvements in sustainability, accessibility, and the upkeep of local attractions.

Cultural and heritage sites, visitor attractions, and sustainable tourism businesses are all eligible to apply.

Malvern Museum recently received £5,000 to refurbish its ground floor, including electrical upgrades and redecoration. Curator Faith Renger said the grant had helped boost visitor numbers and shop sales, with volunteer support also on the rise.

Councillor Beverley Nielsen, portfolio holder for economic development and tourism, called the scheme “a great opportunity” for local tourism businesses to grow and improve sustainability.

The scheme is part of the council’s wider Regenerative Tourism Strategy, which aims to boost the local economy and position the district as a leading destination rooted in community and heritage.

Applications are open until December 31, with projects to be completed by March 2026. Visit malvernhills.gov.uk/grants-and-funding for more information.
