MALVERN Town continued their perfect start to the season with a 2-0 victory away at Larkhall Athletic.

Goals from Harry Clark and Piers Walton sealed a comfortable win for the visitors at Plain Ham.

The result means Malvern sit fifth in the Southern League Division One South table.

And Hillsiders boss Lee Hooper praised his side’s work rate off the ball following the club’s strong start to the new campaign.

Hooper said: “It’s really pleasing. We managed the game really well and we were quite comfortable at the end.

“Two clean sheets is decent, that’s what we’re looking to do. If you keep a clean sheet you’re not going to lose the game.

“If you put the graft in off the ball, it puts you in a good place to go and win the game because we know we always create chances.”

Clark opened the scoring on 15 minutes as he hammered a shot into the net from the edge of the penalty area after Larkhall failed to properly clear a free-kick into the box.

And Walton doubled Malvern’s lead just before half time when he finished S Clark’s whipped cross from close range.

Malvern are next in action against Worcester Raiders in the FA Cup on Saturday, August 16 with kick-off at 3pm at the HDAnywhere Community Stadium.
