INTERNATIONAL sculptor Brian Nyanhongo is coming to Malvern to lead a series of hands-on stone carving courses, inviting people to pick up the chisel and discover thepower of Shona sculpture.
Based from Coach House Studios, Belle Vue Terrace, the sessions offer an opportunity to learn directly from a master of the globally celebrated Shona art movement, a tradition born in Zimbabwe in the 1950s and now exhibited worldwide.
Brian’s work has featured at Kew Gardens, Kirstenbosch Botanic Gardens in Cape Town, and in botanical gardens throughout the US and Europe.
Now, he brings his tools, talent, and teaching to Malvern.
Alongside the courses, visitors can explore an exhibition of Shona sculpture at Malvern Theatres, open until September 29.
Brian also aims to work with local schools and community groups during his residency, sharing his passion and skills with the wider Malvern community.
