MALVERN Town moved top of the table with a 2-0 home win against 10-man Melksham Town.
Goals from Harry Clark and Piers Walton in the space of five first-half minutes sealed victory for the Hillsiders at the HDAnywhere Community Stadium.
And Melksham also had Stan Wyatt sent off shortly before half time with Malvern already two goals to the good.
The result lifts the Hillsiders to the top of the Southern League Division One standings although all of the teams below them have at least one game in-hand.
Malvern broke the deadlock on 27 minutes when Clark prodded home from close range after Melksham goalkeeper Adam Forster fumbled Joe Bullock’s cross.
And the Hillsiders doubled their lead six minutes later as Walton finished under Forster after starting the move by winning back possession.
The visitors then lost Wyatt to a straight red card on 38 minutes following a strong challenge on Charlie Johnson.
Malvern are next in action against Loughborough Students on Saturday, September 6 with kick-off at 3pm at the HDAnywhere Community Stadium.
