AN ATHLETE from Tenbury Wells has received a call-up to represent Great Britain at the STIHL TIMBERSPORTS World Championship.
Rob Chatley will once again represent Britain on the international stage in Milan, Italy later this month.
The 41-year-old earned his place in the GB squad following another strong domestic campaign.
He previously won the British Pro Championship title in 2014.
And he will compete for world honours at the Allianz Cloud Arena on October 24 and 25 alongside the country’s top wood-chopping talent.
Chatley forms part of a six-strong GB squad with Britain to take on the world’s best in a head-to-head relay format.
Each heat features four gruelling disciplines, the stock saw, underhand chop, single buck and standing block chop, with the quickest nation progressing to the next round.
Reigning British champion Glen Penlington, women’s champion Rachel Ferrington and rookie champion Rowan Luxton are all in the GB squad.
And fellow elite athletes Graham Turner and Tom Redmond join Chatley in completing Great Britain’s line-up.
Britain finished 13th in last year’s competition.
