THE FIRST steps have been taken to address residents concerns about road safety along the A44 between Worcester and Hereford.
West Worcestershire MP Dame Harriett Baldwin has called for action to improve road safety along the busy road after reporting concerns from Broadwas and Cotheridge parish council about the increasing risk of serious accidents.
The two bodies responsible for road safety – the Safer Roads Partnership and Worcestershire County Council – agreed to carry out a full investigation into the concerns reported by the parish council and recommended improved signage.
The MP has been feeding local people’s concerns into the council for over a year and she welcomed the news that action will now be taken.
Dame Harriett said: “Anyone who drives along the A44 between Worcester and Hereford knows how fast moving and often dangerous this stretch can be and I am pleased that the council are taking this matter seriously.
“I have been passing on the concerns of Broadwas and Cotheridge residents for over a year and this is an important next step towards improving road safety and reducing speeding along this route.”
