MALVERN Town returned to winning ways with a hard-fought 3-2 victory against Larkhall Athletic.

The Hillsiders twice took the lead courtesy of Ryan Brunt’s strike before Lewis Graham put through his own net at the HDAnywhere Community Stadium.

However, Larkhall twice responded as Milo Murgatroyd and Will Banks restored parity either side of the break.

Malvern took the lead for a third time late on when Charlie Johnson found the net as Lee Hooper’s side claimed a fifth win from their last six league matches.

And the result means the Hillsiders sit fourth in the Southern League Division One South table, six points behind leaders Portishead Town.

The home side broke the deadlock on 23 minutes as Brunt finished on the rebound after Liam Armstrong tipped Ben Hayes’ cross onto the post.

Larkhall drew level on 39 minutes when Murgatroyd tapped home from close range after good work down the left.

However, Malvern reclaimed the lead two minutes before half time as Graham inadvertently diverted Joe Tumelty’s dangerous free-kick into the top corner of his own net.

The visitors equalised for a second time when Banks guided a corner into the net on the hour mark.

However, Town responded again on 76 minutes as Johnson tapped home after Armstrong could only palm Ben Baxter’s cross into the scorer’s path.

Malvern are next in action against Exmouth Town on Saturday, November 29 with kick-off at 3pm at Southern Road.
