MALVERN Town have confirmed the signing of Bromsgrove Sporting captain Reece King as the midfielder makes a return to the Hillsiders.
King made more than a century of appearances for the club across two spells at the HDAnywhere Community Stadium earlier in his career.
He became captain of Bromsgrove, who play one level above Malvern, in February earlier this year and continued to lead the Rouslers this season.
However, he has now decided to return to Malvern and aid Lee Hooper’s side in their quest to secure a historic promotion out of the Southern League Division One South.
Explaining his decision to leave Sporting, King said: “I just wanted to say a heartfelt thank you for everything during my time at Bromsgrove.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed being part of a fantastic group and it has been an honour to captain the side.
“From the players and coaching staff, to the supporters and volunteers, your passion and commitment make this club truly special.
“After a lot of thought, and due to family reasons, I’ve made the very difficult decision to move on.
“This wasn’t easy, and it certainly doesn’t take away from how much I’ve valued my time here.
“I will always look back on my Sporting days with pride and great memories.
“I wish the club every success for the future, on and off the pitch.”
King made his Mavlern debut as a 16-year-old in the 2011/12 campaign and returned to the club during the 2023/24 season.
The midfielder is available for selection this weekend as Malvern make the trip to Exmouth Town.
