A NINE-MINUTE blitz after the break helped Malvern Town to a come-from-behind 4-2 win away at Exmouth Town.

Goals from Ryan Brunt, Harry Clark, Levi Francis and Joe Tumelty inspired the Hillsiders to victory at Southern Road.

That came after Sam Morcom put Exmouth ahead while Benjamin Griffin reduced the deficit for the home side late on.

The result means Malvern sit fifth in the Southern League Division One South table, three points behind leaders Portishead Town.

Malvern spurned a number of early chances to take the lead as Tumelty forced Exmouth stopper Aaron Dearing into a save in the first few minutes.

And Dearing then kept out Harry Clark’s header and also denied the returning Reece King as the Hillsiders passed up three early chances to take the lead.

However, Exmouth broke the deadlock against the run of play on 21 minutes when Morcom’s volley from the edge of the penalty are found the net following a corner.

Malvern went in search of a leveller as Sam Clark sliced an attempted overhead kick wide before Dearing made another save to deny Francis.

The visitors eventually drew level on the stroke of half time when Brunt hooked the ball over the line despite Exmouth’s best attempts to clear after Ben Baxter’s cross skimmed the bar.

And Malvern completed the turnaround on 52 minutes as H Clark rolled a shot past Dearing from Brunt’s through ball.

The Hillsiders struck again six minutes later when Francis marked his 100th appearance for the club with a goal as he cut in from the left and curled a shot into the corner of the net.

And Tumelty netted on the hour mark with a free-kick from 25-yards out as Malvern scored a third goal in the space of nine minutes.

Exmouth won a penalty late on for handball as Griffin scored from the spot six minutes from time which proved merely a consolation.

Malvern are next in action against Willand Rovers on Wednesday, December 3 with kick-off at 7.30pm at the Silver Street.
