Malvern Walking Festival to return for 2026

Malvern Editorial 25th Jan, 2026   0

THE 21st Malvern Walking Festival will take place from May 16 to the Whitsun bank holiday Monday, May 25, writes Maya Dabrowska.

Covering parts of Worcestershire, Herefordshire and Gloucestershire, the walks will be undertaken at the Malvern Hills National Landscape.

The area boasts gorgeous landscapes with dramatic contrasts between the north-south ridge and the pastoral farmland, the Malvern Hills are frequently voted as having the best walks in the Midlands.

Over 60 walks, ranging from two to 32 miles, will be available. The walks are graded from ‘gentle’ to ‘strenuous’ meaning this years’ festival should have something enjoyable for everyone.

These will include multi-day walks, all-day walks, and shorter half-day walks – either in the morning, afternoon or evening.

Themed walks such as wartime Malvern, Malvern’s water cure, farming, gardens, geology and local history, including one centred on the Battle of Worcester, will be open for those who are seeking even more adventure.

For the brave, a 19-mile end2end and back walk will give people the chance to challenge themselves.

Festival Chairman Peter Reynolds, commenting on the programme said: “Our 2025 20th anniversary festival was a huge success and makes us one of the largest walking events in southern England.

“As a consequence, I urge you to get online early to book a walk or two to avoid being disappointed as there are so many wonderful places to visit in and around Malvern.”

He has also confirmed the festival would be supporting the Worcester Air Ambulance charity.

Booking and further information is available online at: malvernwalking.uk or in person at the Tourist Information Centres in Great Malvern, Upton-upon-Severn or Tenbury Wells.
