MALVERN Town scored three goals in the final 10 minutes to secure an emphatic 5-2 victory against struggling Willand Rovers.
The Hillsiders recovered from Ben MacIver-Redwood’s early goal to lead by the 25-minute mark as Sam Clark and Matt Macdonald struck to turn the game on its head at the HDAnywhere Community Stadium.
However, Bailey Kempster scored from the penalty spot to draw the visitors level at the break with the teams sill locked at two-apiece until the 81st minute.
Malvern eventually reclaimed the lead when Yuri Quintas found the net before Harry Clark and Dion Molyneux added late goals to secure the points.
The result means the Hillsiders sit second in the Southern League Division One South table, 13 points clear of the chasing pack in the race for a play-off place.
Malvern fell behind on the quarter-hour mark when Lewis Morgan pulled the ball across the face of goal and Maciver-Redwood found the net.
The goal sparked the Hillsiders into life as Harry Clark delivered a cross into the six-yard box only for the ball to evade both Joe Bullock and Sam Clark.
However, S Clark levelled the game on 19 minutes when he turned home H Clark’s cross after good work from Bullock.
And Malvern completed the turnaround five minutes later when Macdonald rifled the ball into the net from 25-yards out from Charlie Johnson’s lay off.
Willand restored parity on 35 minutes as Kempster found the bottom left corner from the penalty spot after Johnson pulled back a Willand player in the box.
The introduction of Quintas after the break changed the momentum of the game as the Malvern substitute almost scored with his first touch.
A mix-up in the Willand defence presented Quintas with a chance only for the opportunity to go begging when one-on-one with the goalkeeper.
Quintas continued to torment the Willand defence as he scuffed a shot wide from inside the six-yard box after he had teed up S Clark for a chance.
And Malvern eventually reclaimed the lead on 81 minutes when Quintas produced a smart finish from just inside the box after Johnson’s long throw ended up at the feet of Molyneux in the area.
The Hillsiders all but sealed the points five minutes later as H Clark headed in Quintas’s cross from the right after the latter intercepted a stray pass.
And the home side completed the scoring one minute from time when Molyneux bundled the ball home after the Willand goalkeeper failed to deal with Ben Baxter’s corner.
Malvern are next in action against Shaftesbury on Saturday, March 21 with kick-off at 3pm at Coppice Street.
