SWEEPING changes in Westminster could be on the horizon as the race for Britain’s newest swathe of MPs heats up.

Voters will have the chance to decide who represents them and their constituency in the big smoke with West Worcestershire’s prospective parliamentary candidates being recently announced.

Across Malvern, voters will arrive at the polling stations between 7am and 10pm on Thursday, July 4 to take their pick from the following candidates.

Long-standing former member of parliament for the ward, Dame Harriett Baldwin, will be hoping to hold the seat for the Conservatives for her fifth political term.

Worcestershire County Councillor for Pershore, Dan Boatright-Greene will be hoping to secure the seat for the Liberal Democrats.

Kash Haroon has been selected as Labour’s candidate while Christopher Edmonson attempts to secure the seat for Reform UK.

Seonaid Barber will be hoping to take over the constituency on behalf of the Party of Women.

And lastly, Worcestershire County Councillor for Malvern West, Natalie McVey aims to put the Green Party in the hot seat in West Worcestershire.

In total, there will be 91 polling stations within the West Worcestershire constituency.

The council is reminding people to allow plenty of time to register to vote, if they need to, or apply for postal or proxy votes.

People should also check they have the right photo ID, which will be needed to vote in a UK General Election.

Andy Baldwin, Returning Officer at Malvern Hills District Council, said: “We are encouraging our residents to make sure they are ready for the General Election, so they don’t lose their vote.

“It takes five minutes to register and to check whether you have the right photo ID. There is still time to get sorted and the Elections Team can help if you need it”.
