THE OWNERS of a Bransford food bar are celebrating after they were awarded a top prize for their outstanding food hygiene rating.
Chris Powell and Anne Martinus, who run Go-Gourmet at Bransford Garage, achieved gold standard in the Healthier Choices Food Award scheme.
The scheme, which is run by Worcestershire Regulatory Services, is open only to businesses which have the highest possible five-star food hygiene rating.
It also recognises Worcestershire food businesses which cater for people by offering them a variety of healthy and flexible options, with a special gold award for businesses who also use food which has been grown or produced within the area.
Go-Gourmet specialises in home-cooked snacks and meals to take away, made with quality ingredients from the region.
They offer home-made low calorie meal options which show the number of calories so customers can make an informed choice as well as selling products made by other businesses within the area.
Mr Powell said: “The award compliments our commitment towards calorie controlled, take away meals and the use of local produce in our popular home-made hot and cold food to go.”
Coun Phil Grove, leader of Malvern Hills District Council, said: “We are really proud and delighted to have an award winning business in the district.
“Healthy eating plays such an important role in our lives and it is important for businesses to help promote fresh food and healthy eating.
