A MALVERN mum whose business can slash a company’s absences by more than 50 per cent has been selected for a prestigious training programme.

Liz Preece was chosen for the University of Worcester’s Momentum Project which launched earlier this year and has now taken her first steps on the course.

Thanks to backing from the Higher Education Funding Council for England, the mother-of-one is now on a free two-year programme towards gaining a Master of Business Administration.

The 46-year-old launched her company The Healthy Worker in 2013 out of her own home on Zetland Road. Since it has helped companies throughout the country improve the health, resilience and attendance within workforces.

Liz, who is a qualified nurse, claimed some of the courses have seen their annual absence rate reduce by up to 55 per cent.

She said: “The business benefits which can be gained from having healthy and resilient teams are significant and make a difference to a company’s productivity and competitive advantage.

Liz added: “There is an increasing interest in the research which indicates increased resilience affects leadership ability, productivity and attendance rates. Companies are looking to see how they can best support their teams, whilst also appreciating the importance of being an employer of choice to attract the good quality talent for the future.”

She said the chance to be selected for a fully funded MBA was a great opportunity for herself and the business.

“A group of us have been chosen, we all had to apply and it was quite competitive to gain a place with about five people for every slot. I have just started the first module and it has been great so far.

“I am hoping to make good contacts from the group and gain a better understanding of the business world.”
