THIS week it was former Neighbours star Jason Donovan, now another soap favourite is set to perform in Malvern when she plays one of the leading roles in a new comical and romantic play.
Former Coronation Street star Shobna Gulati, who famously played Sunita before being killed following a huge blaze at the Rovers Return, will take to the stage at Malvern Theatres with the show April in Paris next starting on Tuesday (August 12) and finishing on Saturday (August 16).
Shobna, who featured as a main star in the ITV soap for the best part of a decade, plays alongside Liverpudlian Joe McGann who is most well knon for playing the lead role in TV comedy The Upper Hand which was broadcast between 1990 and 1996. His major stages roles include Nathan Detroit in Guys and Dolls, Tevye in Fiddler On The Roof and Ray Say in The Rise and Fall of Little Voice.
The talented pair Shobna Gulati star in a UK tour of John Godber’s bittersweet comedy APRIL IN PARIS which tells the story of a romantic adventure.
Al and Bet’s relationship is on the rocks after Al loses his job, while Bet works in a shoe shop and can only dream of a better life ahead. But things change when Bet wins a romantic night in Paris, the city of love, Al wonders who she’ll take with her.
Resigned to taking her husband, the city of Paris actually reignites Bet’s and Al’s relationship as never before but the reality of returning home looms large.
This hilarious romantic adventure, featuring Godber’s unique brand of observational comedy, was nominated Comedy of the Year in the Olivier Awards.
