Former Doctor Who Colin Baker stars in new comedy

COLIN Baker who famously played the character of Doctor Who in the 1980s will be visiting Malvern later this month to star in a new comedy.

Malvernbard, in association with Malvern Theatres, will present Baker in Mog Bridges which runs at the Grange Road venue between Tuesday July 15 and Saturday, July 19.

The show sees Baker, who was the sixth incarnation of one of British TV’s famous characters between 1984 and 1986, returns to town to play the main role of James Bridges.

Serving overseas in the army for many years, Bridges entirely missed his children growing up. Divorced and now estranged from his family he has not seen them for years.

Now, on his somewhat solitary 70th birthday, his son arrives to tell him that his daughter, Mog, is getting married.

Is it too late to build bridges? Or might she look sweet, upon the seat, of a motor-car made for two?

As well as playing the role of Tardis bound Dr Who, Baker’s other stage work includes roles in the Birmingham Repertory Theatre production of She Stoops To Conquer, Michael Frayn’s award winning comedy Noises Off, the iconic Inspector Morse in House Of Ghosts, Victorian ghost story The Woman In White and most recently the hilarious comedy The Final Test.

From the company that brought audiences Elysian Fields comes a bittersweet comedy by Malvern Theatres’ own writer in residence, Nick Wilkes.

Shows start from 7.30pm with matinee perfomances taking place on Wednesday (July 16) and Saturday (July 19) starting at 2.30pm.

Tickets cost between £10.64 and £25.20 and are available by visiting www.malvern-theatres.co.uk or calling the Box Office on 01684 892277.
