A TALENTED Malvern musician has begun the New Year in style after he passed an important exam in impressive fashion.

Saxophonist Josh James, 18, who hopes to join the Army Musician Corps later this year, achieved Merit status after taking his Grade 8 Jazz Saxophone exam.

Josh’s saxophone teacher of seven years Louisa Davidson told the Observer she was delighted for the youngster.

“I have seen Josh progress year by year taking all the Saxophone music Grades 1 to 8. He has been a very dedicated and talented student.”

Other successes from Louisa’s pupils last term included 13-year-old Eleanor Neale who got a Merit for Grade 4 Clarinet.

Louisa is looking for new students interested in learning how to play the saxophone or clarinet.
