A YOUNG man from Malvern, who says he is intrigued by the workings of Westminster, is urging his peers to get involved in politics.

Sebastian Barbour has called for more young people to get involved in the decision making at the heart of their communities, whatever their political opinion.

Sebastian, who is now 19 and working in politics across Worcestershire, has been an active campaigner and stood for election when he was just 18.

He said he understood how frustrated many of the younger generation felt and there ‘was no better way to act on this frustration than making their voices heard’.

The young Conservative added: “Not many young people are interested in politics, and if they are then it is most likely they have certain thoughts and opinions.

“Rather than berating the government like most of my peers, I have a deep intrigue in the workings of Westminster and a passion for the achievement of social justice.

“To any young person reading this, whichever party you support, I urge you to follow your interests and get involved because without our engagement our generation’s voices will not be heard.”

Sebastian has gained three jobs from this initial opportunity and now works in Parliament, which he described as a ‘surreal experience from someone of [his] background’.
