MORE THAN 600 walkers strolled across the Malvern Hills over the weekend in the annual St Richard’s Hospice fund-raising event.

Groups of friends, families, organisations and individuals enjoyed a day of splendid sunshine and spectacular views on Saturday to raise money for the hospice who provide free specialist palliative care for patients living with life-limiting illnesses and supports their families.

The walk is one of the hospice’s most popular events and has been running since the charity started in 1984.

A team of more than 75 pupils, teachers and families from St Matthias CE Primary School also took part in the charity walk.

Walkers had the choice of three routes available, including two, five and 11-mile courses, with the two shortest routes being circular and suitable for families.

Jayne Sargeant, St Richard’s Hospice community fundraiser and organiser, said: “It was a brilliant day and we want to say a huge thank you to everyone who joined us on these wonderful hills.

“We were delighted to have had such perfect weather and you can’t beat the great views of this stunning countryside on our doorstep.

““We really appreciate the support of all involved, including the great team of volunteers that helped to make it happen.

“The backing from our community continues to be truly incredible and we couldn’t offer the free care and support to our patients and their loved ones without it.”
