A new anti-crime drive

CAR PARKS on the Malvern Hills will be patrolled by police and conservators as part of an operation to prevent vehicle crime.

Malvern Hills Community Safety Partnership, working with West Mercia Police and Malvern Hills Conservators, launched Operation Falcon today (Wednesday) to provide a visible deterrent and identify vehicles vulnerable to being targeted by thieves.

Patrol teams will also issue advice to motorists, walkers and cyclists and remind them to ensure all doors and windows are locked and to keep valuables out of sight.

PC Cliff Green, of Malvern Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “We take pride in maintaining our town and countryside as a safe and pleasant place to live and visit.

“Criminals will target areas where they expect easy pickings and Malvern is not one of those places. We do not want to give criminals a chance to spoil anyone’s enjoyment of the hills.”

The operation will run for a month and has been launched to combat the spike in the number of thefts from vehicles during the summer and early autumn months.
