A TALENTED Malvern sailor is on a fund-raising mission in a bid to help make her dreams come true by representing her country at a global event.
Fifteen-year-old Aimee Stephenson’s impressive sailing skills this year has led her to join the International Topper Class Great Britain Youth Squad – a group which organises coaching and racing events for Topper sailors both at regional and national level.
But dedicated Aimee has global success in her sights and wants to raise more than £3,000 to help her land a place at the ITCA World Championships which takes place in July.
Aimee has organised a fund-raising dinner at The Swan Inn, Hanley Swan on Sunday (October 25) to help support her ongoing training and secure her a place at the global event which will be held at the Ballyholme Yacht Club in Northern Ireland.
The money raised will also help Aimee take part in vital training sessions and compete in other big events ahead of the World Championships.
Guests will be treated to a three-course meal and will be able to hear how young Aimee transformed from a shy child, to a resilient and dedicated athlete.
The Chase School pupil said: “Organising this dinner to raise funds is really important to me. I don’t want to just rely on the goodwill of others, though I am grateful to everyone who has supported and continues to support and sponsor me.”
Anyone wishing to support Aimee can reserve a table by calling 0777 5715117.
Tickets cost £36 per head and can only be booked in advance. Closing date is tomorrow (Thursday).
