All 88 candidates announced for Malvern elections

Malvern Editorial 11th Apr, 2023   0

All 88 candidates have been announced for the upcoming local elections in Malvern.

The elections on May 4 will see candidates contest 31 seats available on Malvern Hills District Council.

Elections to town and parish councils and the Malvern Chase Division of Worcestershire County council will take place on the same day.

Not every town or parish council will house a vote however, as available seats outweigh candidate numbers in some areas.

Andy Baldwin, returning officer for Malvern Hills District Council said: “These are really important elections that will decide who will represent you and make key decisions about the place where you live.

“Don’t lose the chance to have your say. Registering to vote takes about five minutes and checking you have the right photo ID now can avoid issues later on. If anyone has any questions then please do contact our elections team who will be happy to help.”

Residents are being reminded to contact Malvern’s election team if they have not received their poll card as they may not be registered to vote.

The deadline to register to vote is midnight on April 17. Those wanting to vote by post have 5pm on April 18 to apply and until 5pm April 25 to vote by proxy, which means sending someone else to vote for you.

The latest elections are the first time people will need to show valid photo ID at a polling station in order to vote.

Visit www.malvernhills.gov.uk/voting-and-elections for more information about valid ID.

Those without a valid form of ID can apply for a free Voter Authority Certificate before 5pm on April 25.

The full list of candidates can also be found on this website.
