Annual Malvern Male Voice Choir set to take place to raise funds for Cancer Research UK

THE ANNUAL Malvern Male Voice Choir concert to raise funds for the town’s Cancer Research UK branch takes place on Saturday, March 25.

‘Come on and Hear!’ – a line taken from a much-loved Alexander Ragtime Band classic – will be performed at 7.30pm in the Big School at Malvern College.

The choir will be singing a programme that will be varied in both age and style, with traditional songs from both sides of the Atlantic, songs from the stage and recent UK pop hits.

The group, which celebrated its 100th anniversary last year will be conducted by its popular musical director Charles Pavey. The choir’s accompanist, Colin Willis, studied composition as a postgraduate at university and he will be giving the first public performance of one of his pieces.

A Male Voice Choir spokesperson said: “This is the first time the choir has performed in Big School at Malvern College and it is looking forward to singing in this prestigious venue. Equally special is that some members from The Chase School Choir will be performing alongside the Male Voice Choir – it will be a pleasure to welcome them again.

“The two choirs have enjoyed the inspiration from singing together in previous years and both choirs are relishing another opportunity.”

Tickets, which include light refreshments, are £12 (18s and under free), are available in advance by calling 01684 892772.

The remaining tickets will be available on the door and there will be a gala raffle with top prizes.
