UPTON has once again scooped the top prize in a prestigious horticultural competition.
The town took gold in the large village category at the RHS Britain in Bloom awards in Belfast.
Upton is classed as a large village in the competition due to its population size.
Britain in Bloom define a large village as somewhere with less than 2,500 names on the electoral roll.
The judges report said: “Upton is a beautiful village which has floral delights along the riverfront and throughout the village.
“What a team of dedicated volunteers led by a much-organised committee.
“The tour was well timed and organised, a very good presentation and exceedingly warm welcome.
“What really shone through was the passion and commitment each of the groups which welcomed us had to say about this village.”
