Antenatal website for parents to be

THE FIRST Worcestershire antenatal directory website for soon-to-be parents and families has now gone live.

The ‘community spirited’ project was developed to act as a resource to help residents across the county find out about the variety of antenatal and pregnancy services, groups and classes which help prepare for labour and life with a new baby.

It also has provided a reference point which will help showcase small businesses and local professionals.

The one stop shop for mums was set up by two local antenatal teachers – Helen Hunt, who is a self employed independent antenatal teacher, trainee midwife and mother and Jo Lederer, an antenatal teacher for the National Childbirth Trust and a self-employed dancing for birth instructor and mother.

Helen and Jo decided to launch the site when they noticed a growing interest from the women who took part in their classes and expressed an interest to explore alternative birthing methods, exercises and pregnancy services available in the area.

The duo said they felt it was important a platform was provided to help people find services which could help them start parenthood in a positive way.

They added they thought educated parents tended to be happier and felt more capable which they believed was the best way to start the life-changing transition into parenthood.

They said sometimes the three one-hour antenatal sessions offered by doctors were not always enough for people.
