Anti-cull group stage conference protest

A COUNTY action group staged a protest in Malvern against badger culling.

Members of the Worcestershire Vegans and Veggies group held banners, placards and dressed as badgers outside a farming conference at the Three Counties Showground on Thursday evening (November 14).

Representatives of the National Farmers Union (NFU) and Natural England attended the conference including President of the NFU Peter Kendall and Geoff Sansome, director of land management for Natural England.

Ronald Lee, Worcestershire Vegans and Veggies communications officer, said: “We wanted to make it clear to the NFU and Natural England what we think of their disgusting support for the appalling slaughter of badgers.

“Natural England is responsible for issuing licences for the badgers to be killed and the NFU has been behind the cull all along, in addition to supporting the keeping of hundreds of thousands of animals in cruel factory farmers.

“The NFU gave its support just recently to plans to construct an intensive chicken farm at Upton Snodsbury, which were thankfully rejected by Wychavon District Council.”
