POLICE attending reports of a ‘disturbed man’ at Malvern Link Railway Station in the early hours of Wednesday morning found he was in possession of a firearm.
Officers took the call around 4.30am.
When they arrived, the man, who was in his 30s, fled the scene but was later found by firearms officers.
He was arrested and taken into custody while investigations continued.
Police said uniformed patrols had been stepped up in the area, following the incident.
A spokesperson said: “We would like to stress that this is an isolated incident and although a report of a firearm is likely to cause alarm, the threat has been negated and there is no ongoing risk to the public.”
